FAQ -  Citrix Universal Subscription model.


How do I get Citrix Universal subscription licenses?

If the subscriptions or a Citrix current perpetual Desktop and application licensed Citrix maintenance are up for renewal – reach out OAS to get detailed information on transiting to the Universal Subscription model.

If Citrix Hybrid rights are already in place, the company can continue to renew the licensing. However later in 2023 Hybrid Rights will automatically be transferred to the Universal Subscription Model.

How does Citrix Universal differ from hybrid rights?

Citrix Universal subscription, allows for clients to:

  • Use both IT-managed Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops and Citrix DaaS cloud services for the duration of their subscription. Where hybrid rights have a limited timeline to migrate to the cloud.
  • Deploy Citrix Universal environments on premises, in an IT-managed “lift and shift” public cloud, a private cloud, or with Citrix DaaS cloud services.
  • Ability to mix “customer- managed” components with cloud services.

What editions of Citrix DaaS and Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops are available with Citrix Universal subscription licensing?

Citrix Universal editions include features from both Citrix DaaS cloud editions and Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops on-premises editions.

Here are the details:

  • Citrix Universal Advanced includes Citrix DaaS Advanced and Citrix Virtual Apps Advanced
  • Citrix Universal Advanced Plus includes Citrix DaaS Advanced Plus and Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops Advanced
  • Citrix Universal Premium includes Citrix DaaS Premium and Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops Premium
  • Citrix Universal Premium Plus includes Citrix DaaS Premium Plus and Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops Premium.

Can an enterprise transition from an existing Citrix license to Citrix Universal?

For existing Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops on-premises term subscriptions or Citrix DaaS cloud subscriptions, clients can continue to renew or expand those licenses or buy Citrix Universal licenses upon the time of renewal.

Can a customer run Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops in it’s own public cloud instance?

Yes. Coming soon, both Citrix Universal and Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops subscription on-premises term licenses will support IT-managed “lift and shift” public cloud deployments.

Are Citrix Universal editions available in Concurrent and User/Device licenses?

Yes. Concurrent and User/Device licenses continue to be available for both renewal customers as well as new Citrix Universal licenses.

What standalone add-ons are available with Citrix Universal subscription licenses?

All current Citrix DaaS add-ons are also available with Citrix Universal. Of course, hybrid rights are included with Citrix Universal already.

What are the requirements to be eligible for Citrix Universal Subscription model?

Minimum number of users / devices of 200 or 100 or more current licenses
