CRITICAL REMINDER FOR ALL CITRIX CLIENTS – CITRIX LICENSE ACTIVATION SERVICE (LAS)

DUE DATE – ACTIVATION MUST BE COMPLETED BEFORE 15 APRIL 2026 TO AVOID SERVICE DISRUPTION

The Citrix License Activation Service (LAS) represents a groundbreaking shift towards cloud-connected licensing technology, replacing the traditional file-based licensing model for on-premises Citrix environments.

Citrix LAS is designed as a streamlined alternative to traditional Citrix legacy licensing, LAS introduces new modules for product activation, ensuring a seamless approach to license management.

This innovative approach necessitates local license servers connecting to Citrix Cloud for automatic activation and management of license entitlements, thereby eliminating the need for manual annual downloads and installations of license files.

Key Details Regarding Citrix LAS and Migration

  • Changes: The conventional manual license files will be supplanted by real-time, cloud-based activation.
  • Migration Deadline: April 15, 2026. After this date, file-based licensing will be permanently deactivated, rendering products unable to recognize them and failure to meet the deadline will impact the ability to receive support through Citrix
  • Further impact: Failure to migrate will result in on-premises components (CVAD, NetScaler, XenServer) being unable to validate licenses, potentially leading to service outages and an inability to launch applications or desktops.
  • Affected Products: All on-premises offerings, including Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (CVAD), NetScaler ADC/Console, XenServer, and Workspace Environment Management (WEM).

Action Required: Upgrade license servers to a LAS-compatible version (11.17.2 build 51000 or later) and ensure they are registered with Citrix Cloud.

The transition to Citrix LAS can present certain challenges. However, OAS is fully equipped to support any Citrix client during the migration process, ensuring a seamless transition.
