The Evolution of Secure Access
The landscape of secure access is undergoing rapid transformation. An increasing volume of work is being conducted through Software as a Service (SaaS) and private web applications, with more users connecting from unmanaged devices, partner networks, and various environments. Concurrently, many organizations are striving to reduce their reliance on traditional Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), seeking a pragmatic transition that accommodates legacy requirements while moving towards a Zero Trust model.
The encouraging news is that Citrix Secure Private Access (SPA) offers a solution that effectively addresses both of these needs.
To this end, Citrix is enhancing the capabilities available to Citrix Universal Hybrid Multi-Cloud (UHMC) customers through the integration of Citrix Secure Private Access.
Updates for UHMC Customers
Citrix announces that UHMC customers now have full access to the Citrix Secure Private Access (SPA) functionality. Previously, access was limited to Windows 365 use cases; however, this update expands entitlement to encompass a broader array of Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) and VPN replacement scenarios beyond just Windows 365.
No action is required from UHMC customers, as this feature is now available immediately as part of your entitlement.
The Importance of the upgrade
ZTNA represents the contemporary standard for secure access. It facilitates application-level, least-privilege access, thereby minimizing the blast radius when compared to broader network access.
However, understand that real-world environments cannot be transformed overnight. Certain applications and workflows still necessitate VPN-style connectivity during the modernization process. With this UHMC entitlement update, customers can adopt a ZTNA-first strategy while still accommodating VPN and VPN-replacement scenarios as part of a gradual transition away from traditional VPNs.
What This Unlocks
With the expanded SPA entitlement under UHMC, customers can:
Gradually reduce VPN dependence, all while ensuring continuity for legacy requirements.
Benefits of Expanded Citrix Secure Private Access for UHMC Customers
Expanded access provides additional layers of security to protect sensitive data. Enables secure connections for remote workers and multiple device types.
Simplified authentication and seamless access to applications. Reduction in access-related delays and interruptions.
More applications are accessible remotely with secure private access. Supports a wider range of platforms and software used by UHMC customers.
Impact on UHMC Operations
Facilitates secure remote working environments for UHMC staff and affiliates. Encourages productivity without compromising security.
Helps UHMC meet regulatory requirements through enhanced security protocols. Reduces risks associated with unauthorized access.
Potential reduction in IT support calls related to access issues. Streamlining of network management and security administration.
